Some of the most powerful moments are the ones we don’t plan. A glance, a quiet laugh, a mess in the middle of creativity, these are the scenes I am drawn to.
I am Manav Purohit, a documentary photographer and visual storyteller based in Mumbai. I have always been fascinated by what happens behind the curtain. My journey with photography began in familiar spaces, at home, with my dog, my family, everyday life. I wasn’t trying to make perfect pictures, I just wanted to remember how things felt. Over time, I realised that these unfiltered, emotional moments held more weight than any posed photo ever could.
Today, my work revolves around capturing the behind-the-scenes stories of creative projects: Interior designs, stage plays, musicals, film sets as well as portraits / personal narratives that quietly unfold in people’s lives.
My style leans toward candid, observational storytelling. I focus on expressions, energy, atmosphere, things that can’t be recreated once they pass. Whether it's a portrait, a rehearsal, or a quiet family scene.
